De pedals will get U home-bit of a struggle but as long as it's not up a steep hill they are fine but the great thinbgs is the chance to give two (nasty) fingers to the little grey suited suits and skirts who tried so hard to get gthe same controlk of electrics as their dirty, rotten, bureaucratis grip in conventional m/cycles and scooters- Thankfully for democracy and freedom they were prevented from strangling electrics with pedals at birth - pedals put electric scooters out of their reach so up theirs and push on-Solex is beyone their dirty stinking nasty Fascist control!
Watch out though-as of this time( 1 March-09 ) they are starting a campaigh to get control of invalid scooters- take note of the spate of press and tv anit-invalid scooter stories about small inci dents bein g elevated and blown-up disproportionately- they are determined to keep themselves in power so do what you can to stop the sh**s! pting for a Solex ( great commuter machines and nice for a day in the country - they are e BICYCLES and yes-you CAN take them on trains as such!

Hey Kev!
Thanks for the link, I checked it out and found this OHM SPORT electric bike (http://nycewheels.com/ohm-sport-electric-bike.html), I like the plastic housing for the battery, integrated to the tubing of the frame. It gives a more appealing feel to the bike. Not like a box attached to a bike like the other models of the website.

But the price! wow 3450 dollars..

Just found this website called NYCeWheels. Haven`t really gone through the content yet, but it seems to have some good inspiration and facts for the project. check out :

Hey Piers!! great link man! so interesting to see their work. It was funny to see that they seem to build their own battery packs, just like when you are doing with professional radio controlled cars.

They are already thinking of regenerative braking, probably using the motor magnetic field generate electricity and drag to slow down.

From what I understood, they are facing some issues with the sensibility of the throttle, which gives 100% power right of the start, also unexpectedly when you bump or tip the throttle...that's a major issue. The electric motor doesn't make any sound, and because there is no clutch, there are great chances to accidentally hitting "the gas" when you are of the bike. Anyway, I think that is in general a good design challenge also.

They are using electronics from BMS, which I didn't know before. (http://liionbms.com)

Through their website I also found out about the EVForum which is a forum for discussion on electric vehicles with lots of infos. (http://www.evalbum.com/)

Great link man, thanks a lot!

put some pictures up of you testing the KTM electric motorcycle!

http://evdrive.com/Emoto_project/moto_project.html
KTM also announced an electric enduro bike which i did a test of a month ago and was totally amazed at. Was soo good.

I have seen the video but I find it difficult to understand why isn't something like that already "out there".

Threehugger has a great post about the widely reported stories of cars running on water and the trouble of finding real evidence of them.
