Hi Ricardo! Do you mean the lack of connection between ebikes and other modes of transportation in cities or the electric charging grid? Interesting point, If it is the later, I guess we will have to wait the move of Better Place, and propose them to implement a solution also for electric bikes and motorcycles. We would easily try to push this on our e.Moped project, making them fit to a common charging standard.

Interesting story… easy to see the evolution of this sector with the rise of electric bikes, but i am still skeptic in particular because of the lack of connection between bikes and the other means within the intermodal network…

Looks like a really solid plan man, well worked out. Your bike trip looks epic too. Must be so cool to camp out like that for so long.
I want to put some time into the electric bike when I get the chance. Not easy to find time though. -273 is really taking off at the moment, got so many orders to fullfill and been working on new designs too, which we now got to sort out production for, and fulltime job, and trying to ride a bit when possible, not to mention trying to keep the wife happy! haha. Off to costa rica next weekend for 3 weeks too for honeymoon. ANyway, will input when possible.

Unfortunately I just found out from Ria Verheij from ZoMoCo (http://www.everyoneweb.com/zomoco/) that mountain bikes are not allowed to participate in the Race. That’s really to bad, I just came from the center of delft where Thom from De Wolf cycles just sponsored the inner tubes for the race….I was so into it..

You are right, the main problem is to predict the forces acting on to the frame. But even if we guess them, coming up with a rhino script or something to generate structures based on a series of intersecting force vectors would already be amazing.

Hi,

its a difficult topic but very interesting! The main problem will be to analyze the forces. It is difficult to predict the force directions. I think we would need an expert. But if we had the force vectors its interesting to use them for form generation.

It could be a little bit like Matthecks shape optimization techniques – but he is really pro! ;-)

Difficult – and that’s why it’s interesting and something “new” –
but only “new” in shape and style. It doesn’t change the usage or functionality. But maybe that’s not the point. Let’s call it high-low-tech! High-tech with low-tech material! I really think that’s future!

Henrique, you make some great points here. And I think the time where you “are what you make” is getting closer and closer. You can totally see that happening with digital content online. With objects we still face some barriers like, skills, time and even the belief in many people of their own creativity. But there is some great technology and designers who are helping lower those barriers.

Primeiramente desculpe a falta de acentuacäo.

Eu tenho mais experiencia relativa ao processo de construcäo de um shape. Já construi alguns. Acredito que sua pergunta é mais relativa ao investimento necessário para se iniciar uma producäo de shapes, máquinas, empregados, matéria prima para umas centenas de shapes por dia….bom, näo serei a melhor pessoa para te dar todo o apoio necessário para esse tipo de questäo.

Sei que é possível comprar shapes “virgens” e imprimir sua marca em cima, mas näo conte pra ninguém isso pois näo é muito bem visto pelos skatistas e ao meu ver näo é um caminho sustentável. A maioria deles vem da China, pode custar 6 euros se voce comprar um container. Existe uma matéria grande sobre a influencia dos “blanks” na indústria do skate:

Eu sou aqui de Campinas e estou interessado tbm em começar a porduzir shapes, jah q aqui e em todo lugar, a media é de 60, 70 reais….sem condições…. se me der uma ajuda, pra ver qnto eh preciso em investimento, ou se é possivel comprar de algum fabricante, mais barato pra depois estampar a marca….coisas assim…..ficarei mto agradecido!!

I took a look at the website an found it very user friendly, among the things I liked the most:

1. nice patent categories at the front page that you can filter
2. browse patents by week, which if you want, you can get a notifications when you register
3. direct links to most popular companies
4. and what I liked the most: A crazy patents section.

just one thing: I found confusing the fact that right after the abstract come google ads, which are followed after a huge gap by the whole patent claim text. It made me think I could only see the abstract, you have to scroll down the roll bar deeply so you can find the rest o the text. which tricked me at the first place so I went away.

If you want to see the patent drawings, you have to register.
Anyway, its worth to check it out.

I’ve looked briefly at “lets-evo”. I like both the content and the way its built: simple and useful. If I should give some constructive feedback to it, it would be about the awareness gets. I actually find it a bit boring, when taking a closer look. Not because of the idea it self (”things that make us move”) and the visual impression. More because I lack reason for using it. And what could that reason be? I’m not in any way an expert on webpages. I’ll try to give some suggestions anyway.

Possible reasons for visiting Lets Evo:
- News value: This is a place where I’ll be the first to know about “things that make us move”.
- Strong opinion: Lets Evo really makes me think because of crisp and clear opinions and messages, thats easy to agree or disagree with.
- Personality: The blog is based on real life, real experience, real people and I can take part all the way. (Perhaps not relevant at Lets Evo, but for sure usefull to many other communication platforms).

- Relevance. “Things that makes us move” is definitely a relevant topic. It’s one of the main factors in our life. How we get from point A to B is essential to how we organize almost everything we do. Even our physical state is dependent on whether we walk, run, ride a bike, lean back in a car or perhaps stay the same place and let others move in our direction. An alternative theme could be “Things that make us sit still”. The internet, telephones, TVs etc. I’d like the blog to go a bit further beyond these things. To explore what’s lying behind it all, and what the consequenses can be. And why it’s relevant. Evolution it self is actually going hand in hand with the things that makes us move. Now that’s interesting.
