Principles of Participation for Open Information Communities
How open source software comes about is still a myth for lots of people. The notion that a group of people with no monetary reward can get together and create something as complex as an operational system like Linux challenges all our previous notions of the market laws of production. In this video presentation, Karl Fogel, open source developer and writer of the book Producing Open Source Software, guides us through the key principles of open source communities.
Open Design in a documentary: Delivered in Beta
Delivered in Beta from KS12 on Vimeo.
The conversation around the concept of Open Design is starting to pick up momentum, last week at the Betahaus in Berlin, a workshop was organized during the Social Media Week Berlin 2010 to discuss the topic among designers.
The documentary: Delivered in Beta was shot during the workshop and exposes some of the ideas talked about there.
As an open design platform, we are happy to see the start of a more broader conversation on the topic hoping that this wave of attention will help us achieve greater success in realizing our design ideas.

On TV: Letsevo project Ecosk8 featured on Globo’s Esporte Espetacular
The Folha Seca, one of our boards developed in collaboration with Brazilian ecological company Fibra, was featured in last weekend’s Esporte Espetacular. We are still working to put the board on the market but it’s great to see our project getting this kind of attention. The snippet of the TV program can be seen online. It is great to see in the video, Bob Burnquist’s similar efforts to put an ecologic board on the market! way to go Bob, maybe we should do something together!

Letsevo TV: Clay Shirky on Institutions vs. collaboration
Back in 2005, Clay Shirky presented, among other interesting points, a good reflection on the values of contribution between people part of a institution and a group of collaborators. Anyone concerned in understanding more of where we are going should take some minutes to watch it.

99% Inspiration, 01% Chroma Key
This is one of the nicest sections of the skateboard film “Yeah Right!” (2003) by The Girl Skateboard company. With the help of director Spike Jonze (Adaptation) the film combines great skateboard action with creative scenes. This section along with its awesome music serves as inspiration for me before going skating. Hope it inspires you too.
Going big over the water
Woooow. Sometimes I think every damm thing was already invented and there is no one else pushing the limits of product usability. And I start getting all philosophical about what is my role in society blah blah blah. Then I see this video. And I just wish I would go for a ride….I mean…for a flight. The Flying Manta Ray was developed by Sevylor and is must be damn cool.
